Recovery: C Section Scar - Including Pictures

WARNING: This might not be one you want to read if you've just eaten your dinner, you're in early pregnancy and suffering morning sickness or you just generally aren't great with gruesome photos.

I'm the type of person that likes to do research on something I know will be happening to me. Before each scan, I would YouTube videos of a scan at the same amount of weeks gestation just so I knew what to look for - this is also how I knew I was having twins at 8 weeks as I had seen a video beforehand!

When I found out I was having a C-section, I straight away YouTube'd what it was like and also googled pictures of people's recoveries - I wasn't very successful in finding actual photos of people's scars and more just blogs on what their recovery was like. Therefore, I decided to document photographs of my wound as I recovered for others to see.

As many of you know, I didn't have a great time recovering from my section and had lots of issues with my scar. I would like to emphasise that I didn't experience ANY pain in the wound until I developed a hole.

The below photos are in chronological order with the dates and weeks postpartum stated underneath.

23rd August 2015 - 2weeks & 4days postpartum

30th August 2015 - 3weeks & 4days postpartum

3rd September 2015 - 4weeks & 1day postpartum

10th September 2015 - 5weeks & 1day postpartum

16th September 2015 - 6weeks postpartum

16th September 2015 - 6weeks postpartum

Before & After Antibiotics and Daily Dressing Changes

26th September 2015 - 7weeks & 3days postpartum

30th September 2015 - 8weeks postpartum

5th October 2015 - 8weeks & 5days postpartum

My recovery involved 3 courses of antibiotics, a scan on the actual wound (ouch!!!) and dressing changes 2 times a day for about 3 weeks. Seriously, when people tell you to lay down and air your wound, listen to them. My wound healed quicker in the first week that I started airing it than it did in the 5 weeks before.

I'm now over the infections and the hole has completely closed. I am very happy with the scar and it reminds me of what I went through to bring my gorgeous babies into the world - I am proud!
