Ollie & Louie: 3 Month Update
Ollie was born weighing 5lbs 12oz which was a bit of a surprise for us because 2 weeks before they were born, we had a scan to check measurements and they were both measuring around the 6lb mark!
From this, we thought we would be having big babies (well for twins anyway)! We had them weighed on Wednesday and Ollie now weighs 12lbs 9ozs!
Louie was born at 4lbs 13oz and on Wednesday was weighed at 10lbs 14ozs!!
Luckily, both boys didn't loose much when they were first weighed! They are able to loose up to 10% of their birth weight so Ollie could have lost 290g but only lost 98g and Louie could have lost 240g but only lost a teeny tiny 9g!
Daily Routine & Eating
As Louie was born under a certain weight, he had to have his blood sugars checked every 3 hours before feeding, luckily he was fine after the first 3 tests so didn't have to have anymore.
I always said I wanted the boys on the same schedule and I would try to get this into place as soon as they were born - this worked well and Ollie was, of course, happy to be fed 3 hourly also. When they were feeding 3 hourly, they would only take around 3-3.5oz's.
As they are getting bigger, I have extended the time between feeds to 4 hours and increased the bottle to 5oz's; both are drinking the bottle dry and so shortly I will be increasing the bottle to 6oz's. Both boys have a 6oz bottle after their evening bath.
The routine at the moment is as follows:
6am - 6oz bottle and back into bed with mummy
6am - 6oz bottle and back into bed with mummy
10am - 6oz bottle, transfer downstairs and either back to sleep or playtime depending on their moods!
2pm - 6oz bottle
5pm - 4oz bottle so they aren't screaming in their bath!
5pm - 4oz bottle so they aren't screaming in their bath!
7pm - Bath time with daddy
7.30pm/8pm - 7oz bottle & bed
Clothing
When they were born, they were both wearing micro-baby nappies. Ollie moved into size 1 after a week but are now both in size 2!
All of their early and tiny baby clothes have been boxed up and put away in the loft! They are now varying between in 0-3 months and 3-6 month clothes. All of their vests are now 3-6 months but Ollie is going into his 3-6 month sleepsuits as well!
Development
Both the boys are now able to focus on objects and can follow them if they move; their eye movement isn't completely smooth but it's getting their!
Louie is our happy little chappy and is always smiling and cooing away! Ollie is much more serious and I call him my tiny Phil Mitchell! He does give you a big smile but boy do you have to work for it sometimes!
Ollie is so strong with his head when he is led on his tummy; he has managed to roll himself over a couple of times when he can get his arms in the right positions! Louie isn't as confident in tummy time but is just as strong supporting his head when we hold him upright.
Louie loves standing and is always pushing himself up when sitting on our laps!
